I’ve spent my first day of four filming at The Print Project today, following the creation of a collectable letterpress poster created for a monthly gig in Shipley.
In addition to charting the printing and interviewing the print maker, Nick, I was interested in making films that celebrated his machines and could sit in a suite of similar films with the Heidelberg one I made at Cotton Letterpress.
Today’s filming schedule was the creation of the type using hot metal typesetting machine the Ludlow. I collected enough footage to make a stand alone short.<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/112757032″>The Ludlow Typograph</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/kjgthatsme”>KJG that's me</a> on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a>.</p>
From my research so far I believe the machinery and equipment is just as important to the cultural importance of letterpress printing as well as the appeal.
